Who we care for
The Pavillion Homes can provide care for children and young people aged 0 to 17, subject to individual assessment. Children may have learning disabilities, autism spectrum conditions, developmental disabilities, communication difficulties, sensory processing needs, emotional and behavioural needs, neurodevelopmental needs or complex care requirements.
Every referral is carefully assessed before a placement is accepted, including the impact on any other child living at the home. We only accept a placement where we are confident the child's needs can be safely and effectively met — we never allow the need to fill a vacancy to take priority over the welfare of a child.
Our vision and values
Our vision is to create a home where children feel safe, valued, respected and understood. Our core values are safety, dignity, belonging, choice, inclusion, achievement, independence and respect.
Children's rights, wishes and feelings
Children's wishes and feelings are central to our approach. Staff adapt communication to each child, using approaches such as simple language, visual timetables, pictures and symbols, objects of reference and communication aids. Children are supported to express their views, participate in decisions that affect them, and access independent advocacy where appropriate.
Safeguarding
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility at The Pavillion Homes. We maintain clear procedures for child protection, allegations against staff, missing children, bullying, online safety, exploitation, whistleblowing and multi-agency safeguarding, and act promptly with the appropriate local authority and safeguarding agencies whenever a concern arises.
Positive behaviour support
We understand that behaviour may communicate an unmet need. Our approach is based on understanding the child rather than simply responding to the behaviour, using predictable routines, positive reinforcement, sensory support and relationship-based care. Any restrictive intervention would only ever be used when lawful, necessary and proportionate.
Health, education and development
Children's health needs are identified at admission and monitored throughout their placement, working with GPs, dentists, nurses, therapists and other professionals. Education is central to children's development, and we work closely with schools, colleges and education professionals while supporting learning through everyday activities.
Management and quality
The Registered Manager, Nhlanhla Moyo, is responsible for the day-to-day management of the home. The Responsible Individual, Mable Jombe, provides strategic oversight of safeguarding, quality assurance, staff development, training, risk management and regulatory compliance. Quality is monitored through regular audits, care-plan reviews, incident monitoring, supervision and feedback from children, families and professionals.
Regulation
Children's homes in England are regulated and inspected by Ofsted. Details of our registration are available on request.
