Caring for Children with Complex Needs in Doncaster

Carefully planned, individualised care for children with multiple or higher support needs.

  • Individualised care plans
  • Multi-agency working
  • Maximum two children

Care designed around the whole child

Some children's needs span more than one area — a learning disability alongside autism, communication difficulties, sensory needs, health conditions or emotional and behavioural needs. For these children, care has to be designed, not packaged.

Before a child moves in, we take the time to understand their circumstances, strengths, needs, risks, preferences and aspirations, and build a personalised care plan that gives staff clear, consistent guidance.

How a referral works

Complex referrals may need a longer assessment period so we can plan the right care and team. We will be honest about timescales from the first conversation.

  1. Referral

A local authority, social worker, health professional or family contacts us.

  2. Information gathering

We request the information we need through an agreed secure process.

  3. Careful assessment

We meet the child and professionals involved and consider whether we can meet the child's needs safely.

  4. Care design

We propose the staffing, environment and support approach and agree it with everyone involved.

  5. Planned, gentle move

A paced transition built around the child.

  6. Ongoing reviews

Regular formal reviews keep the care right as needs change.
